The engine is equipped with the closed liquid cooling system (fig. 3.20).
The cooling system consists of internal and external contours. The external contour includes a radiator and a broad tank. Other components of the cooling system of the engine and system of heating of the car belong to an internal contour.
Circulation is carried out by means of the centrifugal pump which back cover is executed in the block of cylinders. The drive of the pump is carried out by the belt of the gas-distributing mechanism providing uniform load of pump bearings.
The system is filled and added through a broad tank.
The only cooling liquid to which guarantees of the Volvo company extend is the company Volvo cooling liquid diluted with the distilled water in the ratio 50/50. This mix preventing corrosion and nonfreezing has a boiling point about 135 °C.

       NOTE
The block of the engine is not equipped with the traffic jams protecting it from defrosting.
