Necessary conditions for check of level of oil in an automatic box: a plain horizontal surface, the parking brake is involved, the engine works continuously and the lever of the choice of transfers in situation P.

You carry out an inspection of level of oil in an automatic box as follows:

— installing the lever of the choice of transfers to various provisions, detain him in each situation approximately on 3 with;

NOTE At this operation hold a brake pedal in the pressed situation.

— return the lever of the choice of transfers to situation P and to wait about 3 minutes for repeated check of level;

— take out the probe and to wipe the probe the fabric which is not leaving fibers;

— you will insert the probe against the stop into a tube for oil filling;

— again take out the probe.

At oil level below norm fill up its level.

NOTE When filling oil take into account temperature, see the schedule in fig. 2.50

NOTE The difference of volumes between the marks MAX and MIN makes 0,5 liters. Oil temperature in the transmission can be checked by means of Volvo System Tester. At the room temperature (20 °C) oil only concerns the probe. "Cold range" is reached (COLD) (40 °C) in service station after about 5 minutes of continuous work, and "the hot range" (NOTES) (80 °C) after driving within about 30 minutes at a temperature> 15 °C.
