Oil and oil filter replace according to the schedule specified in the program of maintenance and warranty repair of Volvo. Frequency of replacement is specified by either a run, or a certain interval of time, depending on what will come the first. The drain stopper is located in a back part of the pallet of the engine. Merge oil while it is warm.

PREVENTION At the same time with change of oil in the engine replace an oil filter.

Remove a protective guard under the engine if it is necessary, then remove the old filter. Install the new filter according to the instructions specified on the filter (the special tool is necessary).

If you make oil change independently, remember that the fulfilled oil and the filter is not allowed to be thrown out, polluting the environment.

PREVENTION Oil can be very hot. When replacing oil you remember that at long and repeated hit on skin engine oil can cause serious skin diseases.

Discharge of engine oil and replacement of an oil filter you make as follows:

1) merge engine oil for what:

— turn out a drain stopper;

— replace a copper washer;

— you will put a drain stopper and to tighten the moment 35 N · m;

2) replace an oil filter for what (fig. 2.51):

— remove the lower mudguard;

— remove an oil filter (for removal of an oil filter use the tool 999-5458 according to the specification of Volvo);

— oil a sealing ring of the new filter;

— put the new filter and to tighten a hand;

— further see instructions to the filter.

It is necessary to apply the oils satisfying to the ACEA A1 standard to petrol engines it is also possible to use ACEA A3 (fig. 2.52). Pay attention that the same oil can meet at the same time requirements of ACEA A1 and ACEA B1 irrespective of whether this oil is mineral, semi-synthetic or completely synthetic oil.

In extreme service conditions for all petrol engines with a turbo-supercharging or without turbo-supercharging use only ACEA A3 oil.

In the absence of oil with level of quality of ASEA it is possible to use the oils meeting requirements of API SH or SJ.

NOTE Under no circumstances it is not necessary to apply additives (additive) to oils.

NOTE Oils with viscosity 0W-30 and 0W-40 have to meet requirements of ACEA A3 (petrol engines).

When replacing oil also check a condition of system of ventilation of a case and a flame arrester as follows:

1) remove hoses of system of ventilation of a case and a flame arrester (fig. 2.53) for what:

— uncover an oil-filling mouth;

— disconnect both hoses from a flame arrester and to remove the flame arrester case from an inlet air hose;

— turn the lower case (bayonetny connection) and to remove a flame arrester;

— check technical condition and, if necessary, to replace a flame arrester;

— clear, and if necessary, to put a new flame arrester and a sealing ring;

— blow all hoses compressed air.

NOTE In a thin hose there is a limiter.

Installation is carried out upside-down for what it is necessary to use new collars for hoses.

2) remove a hose from an oil separator on a head of the block of cylinders for what (fig. 2.54):

— uncover a block head the engine;

— disconnect a hose from a head of the block of cylinders and to remove it;

— clean and blow a hose and connecting elements;

— grease a hose with vaseline and insert between a head of cylinders and an arm, having turned by 180 degrees.

— fix by a new collar (if necessary to remove a cap);

— you will put a cover of a maslozalivny mouth;

— establish a block head cover.
